The  Rules of Golf  are often tricky! Thankfully, we’ve was given the guru. Our  Rules Guy  acknowledges the book front to back . Got a question? He’s attained all the answers.

Can I gain the benefits of different color balls on round if they’re just the same make and model? I use orange in regards to the first tee, green regarding the second tee, yellow about the third, then follow these pattern for the rest of the is it possible you. My golf buddies are far more traditional players who just use white, and my rotable drives them crazy — but am I cheating?

What you are, Harry, is a colorful character! (And, coincidentally, “Tim LaRocque” is normally Rules Guy’s stage designate when he fronts his Backbone Tap cover band. )

With no really fantastic Local Rules in effect on top of that provided that you play one conforming golf ball, Rule seven. 2a doesn’t restrict the ball you may change to, regardless of between holes or anytime otherwise permitted to substitute.

That said, if you think Model Local Rule G-4 (aka “the one-ball rule”) is in effect, you would in no way, repeat far from being , be allowed to change to a better colored ball of the same model and make. Why? White, orange, natural, yellow and so on are different area items on the Conforming Softball List; ergo, they’re if not as different balls for less than that Local Rule.

There is a potential, in any case half-crazy workaround: You could roll the dice and take a highlighter pen and hand-draw one make/model ball through different colors and be in the good under the rules. Do that, Mondrian, and color us astounded.

Rules Guy: What do I do if my playing partner covers my ball without my permission?

By: Rules Guy

For more ball-related guidance from our guru, notion of …

Someone in my regularly league has an incessant custom of lifting any sphere she thinks might be hers without marking it. The wife refuses to take out her interpreting glasses and literally engages you in the ball up to her nose to identify it. Please understand, I’m not talking about hunting for her ball. All of these balls are in plain sight in the either the fairway or even with the rough. Whether or not it is jane’s ball, she usually switches the ball by putting it from a height of a few inches near the original get. If the ball is hers, I know she should be assessed a one-stroke penalty for not marking her ball and may even a general penalty for participating in an  indecently substituted ball   or playing from the totally place. However , what is the owning if she picks up my full ball and does not mark the site or replace it properly? I am really not sure she incurs any penalty for this conduct and I find that absolutely remarkable. Rule 7. 4 america there is no penalty if the player’s ball is accidentally tempted by the player, opponent and anyone else  while wishing to identify it and it must be replaced on its unique spot. The penalty for the purpose of breach of Rule 12. 4 is the general penalty. Would you classify this player’s behavior as accidental?

First off, my sympathies: Using Mrs. Magoo, picking up tennis balls willy-nilly, must be exasperating. A new Rules perspective, players of the same group in apply play are outside affects to each other, and, hard currently to swallow given some sort of specifics of your case, there is no penalty if an right outside influence moves a player’s ball.

Yes, it’s the responsibility of the ball’s owner, when she has practical experience or virtual certainty out of her ball being aligned, to replace it on the original space before she plays across, lest she  incur a penalty stroke .

In  match play , the player would get one charges stroke for lifting those ball in play granted that she didn’t follow the supposed procedure for lifting a bowling ball for identification. You would nonetheless need to ensure your ball comes replaced on the original point, though either you or your assailant could do so.

Given that your nemesis’s actions are a (bad, bad) trait, this is a matter that should be  addressed until play , either basically you or by the ligue, which could warn her about that continuing this heedless pushing will result in some sort of ban. Bein unable that, Rules Guy can suggest you get to your ball easily than she does.
