If your opponent told you to shoot a free drop off the Brooklyn Bridge …. You were sure enough both wrong, because you were not entitled to free relief, simply because immovable obstruction interfered simply with your line of sight, just not your swing, lie or even stance.

The question becomes maybe this was match play potentially stroke play (in on a case you meant “fellow competitor, ” not “opponent”).
