The 2023 U.S. Women’s Open is set for a thrilling finish Sunday, with Japan’s Nasa Hataoka leads the LPGA’s most lucrative major by one shot.
The 24-year-old is not unfamilar with U.S. Open pressure, having lost in an aggregate playoff at the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open to Yuka Sasso. That wasn’t the first time the six-time LPGA winner has been in major contention before either, also losing a playoff at the 2018 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
She was nearly flawless at Pebble Beach Saturday, making six birdies against no bogeys for 66 and the low round of the championship so far.

Allisen Corpuz is her closest persuer at six under after a bogey on the 18th to close out a 71 on Saturday. Second-round leader Bailey Tardy is tied for third with Hyo Joo Kim at four under. Just two other players are under par with Koreans Jiyai Shin and Hae Ran Ryu sharing fifth at two under.
Rose Zhang is among a group of four players including defending champion Minjee Lee tied for ninth at one over.
